The SHADERSOURCE Branching River Tool uses spline meshes and flow maps that can automatically create a seamless branch or fork within a river system.
Vertex Painting can be used to paint and change the river direction using flow map systems, paint whitewater for rapids and even paint opacity for seamless river blending.
