MasterGlass is a pack of clean realistic fluted, ribbed, frosted and other formed glass materials for Unreal Engine 5.
Works with Lumen and Path tracing.

The key point of this material is the refraction effect, which distorts the image the way it works in real life, when the glass has a specific patterned shape, such as squares, waves, and lines.
This material is designed to use with cinematic renders and archviz.
You can use it for games; however, you have to consider that this glass material can significantly impact your performance.

This pack includes 50 unique different patterns, including:

  • Squares (20)
  • Lines (5)
  • Triangles (6)
  • Waves (3)
  • Hexagons (3)
  • Pyramids (6)
  • Noises (3)
  • Bricks (4)

The refraction effect works based on special normal maps with different patterns. The appearance of the glass is not limited to existing normal maps. You can always create your own pattern and use it with the flexible material instance.

All normal maps are seamless tiling textures. You can also use unique baked normal map textures for your models with this material.

Even though the best experience is possible with the Hardware ray tracing enabled, you can use this material with or without an RTX graphics card.

Limitations
Lumen:

  • Only one-sided material. If you need to create glass on both sides, you will need to use a thick mesh.
  • Important: Works only with Raster translusency method. Doesn’t work with ray-traced translucency. The raster method allows you to create a distortion effect.

Path tracing:

  • Proper glass color change is not yet supported
  • Requires two-sided geometry in order to display the glass on both sides of your mesh.

Recomended project settings:

  • Support Hardware Ray Tracing: Enabled
  • Use Hardware Ray Tracing when available: Enabled
  • Ray Lighting Mode: Hit Lighting for Reflections
  • High Quality Translucency Reflections: Enabled
  • Software Ray Tracing Mode: Detail Tracing

1. For use with Lumen
2. For use with Path Tracing

Important master material settings.
Lumen

  • Shading model: Thin translucent
  • Lighting mode: Surface forward shading

Path tracing:

  • Shading model: Default lit
  • Lighting mode: Surface forward shading

Available material instance parameters: UV tiling, offset and rotation, Transmission Color (only with Lumen when the Thin translucent is enabled), Base Color, Opacity, Specular, Roughness, Metalness, IOR, Fresnel falloff to control the distortion amount, Normal map texture slot to change the pattern, Normal strength.
